มีเป้าหมายให้รถที่ขายในรัฐทั้งหมดเป็นรถชนิดปลอดมลพิษภายในปี 2578 รวมถึงตั้งเป้าหมายแบบเดียวกันกับรถบรรทุกขนาดกลางและขนาดใหญ่ภายในปี 2588 ถ้าเป็นไปได้
นิวยอร์ก ซิตี้ เปิดเผยว่า เพื่อให้ตรงตามเป้าหมายด้านภูมิอากาศ จะต้องมีเจ้าของรถยนต์ 400,000 คันจากทั้งหมด 2 ล้านคันในเมืองที่เปลี่ยนมาใช้รถยนต์ไฟฟ้า (EV) ภายในปี 2573
