"เดอะ ด็อกเตอร์" ในวัย 42 ปี สร้างชื่อจากการคว้าแชมป์โลกได้ทุกรุ่นที่ลงทำการแข่งขัน ตั้งแต่ 125 ซีซี, 250 ซีซี อย่างละ 1 สมัย และโมโต จีพี อีกถึง 7 สมัย โดยฤดูกาล 2021 เจ้าตัวย้ายจาก มอนสเตอร์ ยามาฮ่า ไปอยู่กับ เปโตรนาส ยามาฮ่า แต่ทำผลงานได้ไม่ดีเท่าที่ควร

"มันยากที่จะพูดออกมา เมื่อรู้ว่าปีหน้าผมจะไม่ได้ลงแข่งขันมอเตอร์ไซค์อีกแล้ว" รอสซี เริ่มกล่าว

ทั้งนี้เจ้าของตำนานหมายเลข 46 คว้าชัยไปทั้งหมด 115 สนาม ขึ้นโพเดียมไป 235 ครั้ง พร้อมกับคว้าตำแหน่งโพล ไป 65 ครั้ง นับตั้งแต่เริ่มลงชิงชัยในรุ่น 125 ซีซี เมื่อปี 1996
